How we tested it
“Handheld night shot, light rain: a paper coffee cup rolls across an empty neon-lit alley. Slow dolly-in, shallow depth of field, 24 fps, no people.”
Hailuo returned our alley shot in roughly 70 seconds, the fastest in the index by a wide margin. Rain and wet-pavement reflections were convincing; the failure was the neon signage, which rendered as glowing gibberish (a known weakness with text in scenes). For volume b-roll where you frame out signage, the speed is addictive.
Watermark & licensing, the part that decides monetization
Why the free plan fails: Watermark on free exports + no commercial rights
Watermark
Free exports are watermarked. The daily login credits are genuinely generous for testing, but as with every tool in this index, the free lane ends the moment a video needs to earn.
License
Commercial use requires a paid plan. Standard (~$7.99/mo billed yearly, ~$14.99 monthly) removes the watermark and raises limits; Pro and higher tiers exist for true volume pipelines.
Videos generated on the free plan carry a watermark; commercial usage rights are included with paid memberships.
Pros & cons
Pros
- Fastest generation times we measured
- Generous daily credits for free experimentation
- Strong human motion and crowd shots
- Volume-friendly paid pricing
Cons
- Watermark on all free exports
- On-screen text reliably garbles
- Less fine control than Runway or Kling
- Colors occasionally oversaturate
Pricing, which plans are actually safe
| Plan | Price | What you get | Monetization |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Daily login credits, watermark | Not safe |
| Standard | ~$7.99/mo (billed yearly) | No watermark, commercial use, higher limits | Safe |
| Pro | ~$24.99/mo | Higher limits, faster queue | Safe |
Affiliate link, commission costs you nothing and never changes a verdict.

FAQ
Why is Hailuo popular for faceless channels?
Speed and volume. When you need twenty b-roll clips a day, a 70-second render loop changes the economics of your pipeline.
Is the free plan safe to publish from?
No, exports are watermarked and commercial rights require a paid plan. ~$7.99/mo (billed yearly) is the entry point.
Hailuo or Kling for b-roll?
Kling for realism per clip, Hailuo for clips per hour. Plenty of channels run both: Kling for hero shots, Hailuo for filler.
